Steve Sherman, Pastor
Pastor Steve is thankful for being raised in a Christian family who taught Him the Word. At a young age, Steve was saved by God's grace. Later, after beginning a bachelor's degree in computer science, Steve's direction in life was changed as the Lord called him to full-time pastoral ministry. Steve was trained for the ministry at The Master's Seminary in Sun Valley, California, where he graduated in May 2005 with an M.Div. Before coming to CFC, Steve served as the associate pastor of Grace Fellowship, a Southern Baptist church in Rowland Heights, California, where he focused on youth ministry. Steve's passions are expository preaching and shepherding his family. Steve is happily married to his wife, Esther. They are blessed with eight children. One of Steve's favorite verses is Galatians 2:20, "I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." (ESV)

Boyce Santos, Elder
Iluminado "Boyce" Santos is a native of the Philippines. The Lord saved him in the mid 80's through the reading of the Gospel of Matthew in a Gideon Bible given to him in high school. Boyce's favorite portion of Scripture is the Sermon on the Mount, for it was especially this portion that the Holy Spirit used to convict Boyce of his sin and to save him. Boyce has a degree in engineering and currently works as a consultant in Enterprise Data Protection. Boyce is married to April. The Lord has blessed them with three grown children. Boyce has been given the heart of a servant, and delights to serve Christ's church in any way he can. His elder responsibilities currently include teaching God's Word and overseeing membership. Boyce enjoys doing triathlons and endurance races, for they remind him of the Christian life with its trials, perseverance, and reward.

Dennis Sherman, Elder
Dennis (Pastor Steve's father) was raised in the San Diego area, and was blessed with parents and grandparents who taught him God's Word and who made sure his family was in a Bible-preaching church. At age 6, Dennis repented of his sin and trusted Jesus Christ. Believing the Lord wanted him to serve as a missionary or pastor, Dennis majored in Bible at Biola University. During this time, he served as a Christian camp program director, and as a youth pastor. His senior year he was called to pastor Irvine Community Church, in California, where he faithfully shepherded God's flock for 47 years. In 2016, he retired from fulltime ministry in order to serve the Lord in New Jersey. Dennis and his wife, Terry, have two married sons. The younger Sherman family is so thankful to the Lord for bringing Dennis and Terry to live next door. They are a precious blessing to each one. Dennis enjoys preaching and teaching in our church. He is a voracious reader of theology and history, and enjoys spending time with his grandkids. His favorite verse is Philippians 1:6 "And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." (ESV)

Ron Mcgarry, Elder
In the late '80's, the Holy Spirit worked through a Billy Graham broadcast to lead Ron to Christ. A counselor on the phone helped Ron understand his need to be born again. Before, Ron felt he could not escape God's wrath. But after trusting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, Ron was overwhelmed with the love with which God first loved him. Immediately, Ron knew he wanted to serve Christ. After leaving the Roman Catholic Church, Ron joined a Presbyterian church, where he later served as an elder. In 2014, Ron and his wife, Laura, became members of CFC. Early in life, Ron served in the Army. He also received training in carpentry, mechanics, and engineering. Ron and Laura raised two children, and have two grandchildren. Ron currently works as an engineering inspector. At CFC, he helps teach adult Sunday School. The Lord has ordained much physical suffering for Ron, yet through this Ron is an example to us of rejoicing always in the Lord. Ron's passions include studying Scripture and witnessing. He also enjoys helping others and playing sports. His favorite verses are John 14:6 "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (ESV), and John 11:25-26.

Brian Lindskog, Deacon
A native of Mendham, New Jersey, Brian was raised in an Anglican-Catholic church where the gospel was obscured. After living a life of sin, serving self as his god, Brian was blessed to hear, understand, and believe the soul-saving gospel of Jesus Christ through faithful expository preaching on the radio. He was baptized as a public proclamation of his faith in 1999. The Lord brought Brian to CFC in 2013. Brian is our librarian, takes care of the church grounds, and serves in children's ministry. Brian enjoys caring for animals, and has been a veterinary technician for over 20 years. He also delights to marvel at the majesty of God's creation while hiking and bicycling. Some of his favorite verses are 2 Peter 1:2-4 "Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust." (NASB)

José Luck, Deacon
José is of Chinese ancestry, was born in Nicaragua, and is a Canadian citizen. He has bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration, and works as a business analyst in IT. The Lord brought José to Himself through providential circumstances. José's friend brought him to a Christian conference in Maryland in 2009. There José met Pastor Steve's brother from California, who encouraged José to visit CFC. At CFC, José heard a series of sermons on the 10 Commandments, and started attending all our meetings. As José learned about God and the gospel, the Holy Spirit convicted José of his sin, and drew him to Christ in repentance and faith. In obedience to Christ, José was baptized in 2010. He now enjoys spending time with loved ones, fellowship beyond church meetings, shouldering the burdens of others, and playing team sports with children. His favorite verse is 2 Timothy 4:5, "As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry." (ESV)

Dorian Johnson, Worship Service Leader
Dorian is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Although he grew up in church, Dorian was brought to saving faith in Christ while a student at Brown University. Dorian has worked in higher education administration for over 15 years, working in New York City for most of that time. While commuting home on a bus from NYC, he was introduced to the doctrines of grace. Now Dorian serves as an administrator at Princeton University. He and his wife Isi have been attending CFC since November 2011, along with their three children whom they homeschool. Dorian has prior experience leading church choirs and doing youth/young adult ministry. Now, in addition to leading our worship services, Dorian delights in teaching adult Sunday School. He also enjoys reading, classical music, opera, kickboxing, and playing squash. His favorite book of the Bible is Hebrews, and his favorite verse in the Bible is Isaiah 7:9b, "If you are not firm in faith, you will not be firm at all." (ESV)

Fiona Greatorex, Women's Fellowship Leader
Fiona is a native of Australia. Though Fiona grew up in a large Roman Catholic family, she knew she could never be right with God on her own. At the age of 17, she was saved through the witness of a beach mission team. When she was shown Romans 5 & 6, the lights went on and she believed in Christ for salvation. Fiona then attended the University of New South Wales in Sydney, because it had a great Bible study group. She studied science and became a high school teacher. She has since studied theology at Moore College in Sydney. Fiona came to the U.S. in 2003 with her husband, Alan, and three sons. She now has two granddaughters. Fiona likes spending time with family, studying the Bible with others, reading, and swimming. Fiona's favorite book of the Bible is Hebrews because it brings the Old and New Covenants together in one great package. Her favorite verses are 1 Thessalonians 1:9b-10 because the gospel is so succinctly stated: "you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come." (ESV)

Esther Sherman and Jewel Maylath, Children's Ministry Leaders

Esther grew up in California in a Christian home where she heard of her need for Jesus. Around age 11, Esther believed she was a sinner in need of the Savior, and received from the Lord a desire to learn more about Him, along with a desire to share His truth with others. Esther learned much about the Bible from her parents and youth leaders, and was particularly challenged by a camp counselor who asked how she knew she was going to heaven. Yet it was not until age 21 that Esther received a deep sense of her sin, its ugliness, and the incredible beauty of the gospel. Though she cannot pinpoint when she was saved, she is so thankful to now be saved! Esther graduated from BIOLA University with a bachelor's degree in math education. After teaching four years in public high school, she resigned in order to be a mother. She now educates her eight children at home. Esther enjoys cooking, camping, hiking, being outdoors, learning, and teaching her children. Her favorite verse is Psalm 63:1, "O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water." (NIV)

Jewel heard the gospel growing up in a Christian family and regularly attending Sunday School from age 6. The Lord saved her two years later. She now works with Esther in leading the Children's Ministry. She counts it a privilege to teach Sunday School, which the Lord used to draw her to Christ. In addition, she uses her artistic and computer skills in our church for God's glory. Jewel graduated from Rutgers University with a bachelor's degree in computer science. She had been involved in the homeschooling of her younger sister and her cousin. She enjoys baking, trying out new recipes for her husband Anthony, and spending quality time with family and friends. Her favorite verses are Philippians 4:6-7, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (ESV).
